SUMMARY:

FILM: ‘Les Magnétiques’ directed by Vincent Maël Cardona (98 min)

DATE & TIME: Friday 3rd December, drinks at the cinema bar from 7PM, screening at 8PM, followed by a Q&A with the two lead actors and the sound director!

CINEMA: Club de l’étoile, 14 Rue Troyon, 75017 Paris

TICKETS: €10 full price; €8 for students and all other concessions

DETAILS:

The sound of a film provides half of the experience...
‘Les Magnétiques’ is a clear example of this, with the music being the focal point of the story. It is a narrative about two boys in the 1980’s who run a liberal, underground radio station – mixing tapes of Marquis de Sade, The Sonics, Joy Division… The music and sound is composed by David Sztanke, who you now have the chance of meeting in a Q&A session after the film – accompanied by the two lead actors!

THE MOVIE:

"A small provincial town in the beginning of the 1980’s. Jérôme is the star of an underground radio channel, and his brother, Philippe, is the technical genius that lives in his shadow. One day Philippe is called to the military and sent to Germany. That turns out to be the beginning of a new era; for him and for the radio." -
Synopsis

“Dynamic, surfing on undeniable potential for audience empathy (given its two brilliant lead actors) and strewn with some pretty funny scenes, Magnetic Beats puts its music to wonderful use in a variety of highly creative forms, in order to electrify the story” - Cineuropa

THE PLAN:

We will be kicking the night off with drinks at the cinema’s bar from 7pm, followed by the screening of the movie at 8pm and the Q&A at 9:30pm. Tickets available online here: https://clubdeletoile-vad.cotecine.fr/reserver/ (please reserve early to avoid disappointment)

Covid-19 era sanitary measures: compulsory health pass.

‘Les Magnétiques’ is driven forward by the two lead actors and brilliantly supported by the music. Don’t miss this chance to experience it on the big screen, with surround sound, and in the presence of the lead actors and music composer!
