Winterlights and Christmas Markets in Luxembourg City
When : end of November to beginning of January (each year)
Shortly before the end of the year celebrations, whether the city is covered in a blanket of snow or not, it changes to welcome the Christmas or Advent markets and the Winterlights which will illuminate the gloomy sky during the day and bring a bit of gaiety and magic in the evening. Thus, each year the Luxembourg City Tourist Office announces the program of Winterlights and Advent markets, which are closely linked.

Where : Downtown and mainly on Place de la Constitution
A thousand and one lights transform the city into a magical setting, during these illuminations various activities are offered, thus immersing us in the magic of Christmas.
The program includes, among other things, parades, street performances, exhibitions, plays, music, concerts, gospel choirs, fun fairs, shopping, and of course Christmas markets.
All this is possible thanks to a close and friendly collaboration between the different actors of the city, the institutional and private partners.

During the Winterlights, markets are specially organized such as:
The Saint Nicolas market (Niklosmaart) on the Place de Paris, which has 16 small houses installed at the foot of a 20-meter high tree. There will be food stalls, decorations, drinks…
The Christmas market (Wantermaart) on Constitution Square features a huge fir tree with a garland of fireflies and its 32-meter Ferris wheel. Panoramic café-restaurants with a breathtaking view of the entire Pétrusse valley and the Pont Adolphe.
And the Christmas market (Lëtzebuerger Chrëschtmaart) on the Place d’Armes is made up of wooden chalets, more or less 40, which sell handicrafts, typical drinks, candles, sweets. Not to mention, its majestic 12-meter high tree with its decorations and its nativity scene.
Luxembourg-city has many surprises in store for you throughout the end-of-year celebrations, which will leave you speechless and memories in your head. You will never see this small country and Christmas in the same way again.
