5 Best libraries to study in Paris

There are more than 16 universities in Paris! Now, you can imagine how it can be difficult to find a comfortable seat in the BU (Bibliothèque Universitaire). As a crowed city, we don’t recommend noisy café to study your exam. Be My Nounou Team has selected the most beautiful libraries in the city of love.

Bibliothèque Mazarine

The Mazarine is , more than three hundred and fifty years after its foundation, a real book museum and a library of study and research, always open to all. Close to huge universities such as Science Po, Paris Descartes or even Les Beaux-Arts.

Registration is done on site, during opening hours. Annual card will cost you € 15 (check or cash) and you need two photo IDs for the first time. A free pass it’s available for five consecutive days but non-renewable in the year.

Bibliothèque Sainte Geneviève

Located in the Quartier Latin, Saint- Geneviève is close to the famous Sorbonne University. The architecture will remind you some Harry Potter movies! The Sainte-Geneviève library is open to anyone over the age of 18 or who has a High School degree. Before you go to the library, complete the pre-registration form (also available from one of the computer stations available in the library hall) it’s free.

BNF – François Mitterrand

Welcome to the largest French library ever! The François-Mitterrand site opened in 1996. This library offers you a lot of space to study and relax. You will probably find every books you need! BNF is close to Université de Paris-Diderot, l’Inalco, l’École nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Val de Seine, l’École des hautes études en sciences sociales…

Registration: Visitors pay €3.50 per day. If you live around the BFN we recommend you: €38 for an annual pass.

Bibliothèque publique d’information (bpi) Centre George Pompidou

BPI opens every day except Tuesday! It close at 10 p.m. Perfect if you like to work in the evening. Don’t be surprise by the waiting line… Especially on Sunday. If you like museum take advantage of the situation and visit Pompidou Museum! It’s located in the inner center of Paris.

Bibliothèque Richelieu

The collections of the National Library of France are today divided into two main sites: the François-Mitterrand site and the Richelieu site. The Richelieu site, in the heart of Paris, is the historic cradle of the National Library of France. Now renamed “Richelieu, Libraries, Museum, Galleries”, it also houses the libraries of the National Institute of Art History (INHA) and the école nationale de Chartres.
