Bassins des Lumières - Bordeaux (Bacalan district)
Les Bassins des Lumières is a digital art center housed in a rehabilitated former submarine base in Bordeaux. This 13,000 m² immersive venue continuously projects monumental works onto walls, floors and water, creating a unique sensory experience. Today, it's one of the largest digital art centers in the world.
Exhibitions and atmosphere
The site hosts several simultaneous exhibitions: a long exhibition dedicated to a major artist (such as Van Gogh or Vermeer) and a shorter, more contemporary format. Visits last around 1h to 1h30. The monumental, dark setting highlights the play of light, spatialized sound and water reflection effects. An adjoining space, Le Cube, is dedicated to contemporary digital creation.
Student public, times and rates
Much appreciated by students for its innovative dimension, the venue also welcomes school groups. Young people's rates are affordable, and the ticket office offers fixed opening times to avoid overcrowding. The venue is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility.
