CAPC: Bordeaux Museum of Contemporary Art
CAPC is housed in the former Entrepôt Lainé, a XIXᵉ century building transformed into a museum of contemporary art in 1984. It has been awarded the Musée de France label and the Centre d'art contemporain d'intérêt national label. This emblematic site blends industrial architecture and contemporary artistic creation in a monumental setting.
Collections and exhibitions
The museum houses a collection of over 1,400 works by some 140 major artists, including Sol LeWitt, Daniel Buren, Richard Long, Claude Viallat and Mario Merz. It regularly hosts major temporary exhibitions, often installed in the central nave, as well as events relating to art, design, architecture and music.
Atmosphere and students
The CAPC offers a unique atmosphere, between heritage and modernity, which attracts a varied public, particularly students. Guided tours, workshops, lectures and educational activities are offered throughout the year. The museum also boasts a library and a café, ideal for relaxing or working alone.
