Bordeaux Botanical Garden - Bastide
Located on the right bank of the Garonne, opposite the historic city center, the Jardin Botanique de Bordeaux - Bastide covers more than 30 hectares. Inaugurated in 2003, this vast landscaped area was designed to showcase regional and global plant biodiversity. Its contemporary, environmentally-friendly layout makes it an ideal place for strolling, scientific discovery and study.
Greenhouses, collections and events
The site includes large 750 m² thematic greenhouses, grouping together seven different climatic zones (Mediterranean, tropical, succulent plants...). The outdoor garden features environments typical of the region (dunes, wetlands, forest, meadow), a vertical garden, an arboretum and educational vegetable gardens. The museum offers regular temporary exhibitions, children's activities, workshops and guided scientific tours, including scooter tours of the city.
Students and accessibility
The garden attracts many students, particularly in biology, ecology, landscape and environmental studies. The greenhouses are open to the public at a reduced rate for under-26s. The entire site is accessible to people with reduced mobility, with level paths, adapted furniture and clear signage.
