Musée Lumière - Lyon (8ᵉ arrondissement, Monplaisir)
Housed in the Lumière brothers' art deco-art nouveau family villa (25 rue du Premier-Film), the museum celebrates the invention of the Cinématographe in 1895, as well as the photographic and filmic innovations developed by Louis and Auguste Lumière in one of the world's first photographic plate factories.
Content, events and students
Spread over four levels and 21 rooms, the museum offers an interactive tour featuring guided screenings, vintage equipment (cinématographe n°1), autochromes, magic lanterns, early cameras and unusual objects. The Hangar du Premier-Film, a former factory converted into a 269-seat cinema, shows heritage films, retrospectives and screenings for young audiences (Cinématokid). This educational and cultural venue attracts students, film buffs, families and school groups.

- Opening hours: open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. (or 9:30 a.m. depending on the season) to 6:30 p.m.; closed 1ᵉʳ January, 1ᵉʳ May, 25 Dec.
- Rates: full: €9/reduced (students, jobseekers, under-18s, over-60s, PRMs, teachers...): €7.50. Free for children under 7 and Lyon City Card holders. Audioguide: +3 €; individual guided tours: +3 €.
